West Indies’ opening batsmen navigated 26 overs at the end of Day Two of the first Test against New Zealand to close play trailing by 470 runs and with all wickets still in hand.
New Zealand declared on 519/7 after captain Kane Williamson made his best Test score of 251 while West Indies bowlers Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel grabbed three wickets each.

After declaration, the Kiwis decided to have a go at the regional openers for just under a session but the tenacious mindsets of Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell saw West Indies through until the close of play without any mishaps.
Brathwaite faced 89 deliveries for 20 runs while Campbell was slightly less defensive, making 22 from 68 balls.
West Indies will resume on 49/0 when the third day begins at 6PM today, T&T time.
