Hosts Qatar are officially out of the World Cup after just two matches, becoming the first host nation to do so.
They lost to Senegal 3-1 in Group A action.
Qatar’s first ever World Cup goal came from Mohammed Muntari but Senegal scored through Boulaye Dia, Famara Diedhiou and Bamba Dieng in the 41st, 48th and 84th minutes to secure three points.
Also in Group A, Netherlands and Ecuador drew 1-1 after goals from Cody Gakpo in the 6th minute and Enner Valencia in the 49th minute to condemn Qatar to a group-stage exit.
Elsewhere Iran beat Wales 2-0 with both goals being scored in the final four minutes of 11 additional minutes in Group B action.
The goals came from Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian in minutes 90+8 and 90+11.
The goals beat Wales’ backup goalkeeper Danny Ward who was brought on in the 87th minute after starting goalie Wayne Hennessey was sent off for a reckless tackle outside the box.
He became only the third keeper to ever receive a red card at the World Cup.
And in the game’s final clash, England and USA drew 0-0 despite both teams having ample opportunity – 8 and 10 shots respectively.
