Uruguay footballer Luis Suarez has tested positive for COVID-19 just days ahead of what was supposed to be first encounter with former club Barcelona.
According to the Uruguayan football association, the Atletico Madrid striker, fellow footballer Rodrigo Munoz and press officer Matias Faral have all tested positive.
It says they are in good health and they have already implemented the necessary COVID-19 measures.
Suarez signed for Atletico in September 2020 on a two-year deal after six years with Barcelona.
New Barca coach Ronald Koeman told the club’s third-highest goal scorer that he was not in his plans.
Saturday’s clash at 4pm T&T time would have been his first encounter with the Blaugrana since his move.
