The T&T Bobsled team has qualified for the 2022 Winter Olympics, taking Team TTO back to the Games for the first time in 20 years.
In an update posted to social media, it said the two-man team will be taking part in the Games in Beijing.
It noted that the team has moved mountains in a short space of time to make this happen and expressed gratitude to “every single person that has impacted the journey along the way.”
According to the T&T Olympic Committee, those heading across to Beijing from February 4th to 20th are:
- Athletes: Axel Brown (Pilot), Andre Marcano (Breakman) and Mikel Thomas (Alternate)
- Chef de Mission: Lovie Santana
- COVID-19 Liaison Officer: Rheeza Grant
- Support Staff: Thomas Harris and Lewis Prentice
The last time T&T took part in a Winter Games was in Salt Lake City in 2002 when the country’s then bobsledders competed in a two-man and three-man competition.
