Trinidad and Tobago’s Caleb Wales has been designated as Assistant Referee 1 for Friday’s World Cup clash between Wales and Iran.
The game is set to kick off at 6am T&T time at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.
He becomes the fifth Trinbagonian to represent the country as a referee at a World Cup.
He follows Douglas James (assistant referee, USA 1994), Ramesh Ramdhan (referee, France 1998), Merere Gonzales (assistant referee, France 1998) and Michael Ragoonath (assistant referee, Korea/Japan 2002).
Caleb says he fell in love with football as an adult and sought to become an international assistant referee.
He notes that his target is to participate in world-class matches, tournaments, and events while travelling the world.
