Scotland and Bangladesh through to T20 World Cup’s Super 12

    Scotland and Bangladesh are through to the T20 World Cup’s Super 12 phase after placing first and second in First Round Group B.

    Table toppers Scotland today beat Oman by eight wickets as Player of the Match Josh Davey helped reduce Oman to 122 all out with figures of 3/25.

    Scotland chased easily, getting to 123/2 in 17 overs with a top score of 41 from captain Kyle Coetzer.

    Bangladesh meanwhile were powered by Shakib Al Hasan’s Player of the Match performance to beat Papua New Guinea by 84 runs.

    Shakib first made 46 from 37 balls as Bangladesh piled on 181/7, batting first.

    Then he took four wickets for just nine runs in four overs as PNG were bowled out for 97 in 19.3 overs.

    Scotland now joins Super 12 Group 2 which consists of India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan and the yet to be decided second place finisher of First Round Group A.

    Bangladesh meanwhile goes on to Super 12 Group 1 with England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies and the winner of First Round Group A.

    First Round Group A stands as follows – Sri Lanka are at the top with four points, Ireland second with two points, Namibia in third with two points but a lower net run rate and Netherlands winless, all after playing two games each.
