Manchester United have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the number seven shirt which he wore during his previous spell with the club.
The Portuguese is one of several legends who sported the number including George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham.
This time, Ronaldo inherits the shirt from Edinson Cavani who will switch to the number 21 which he wears for the Uruguayan national team.
United’s first fixture after the international break, in which Ronaldo could make his second debut, is at home to Newcastle United on Saturday 11th September.
He played six seasons for the club between 2003 and 2009 and made 292 appearances and scored 118 goals.
He will return to the club, now as the top international goal scorer after reaching 111 goals for Portugal with a brace against Republic of Ireland yesterday.
