Rampaul called up to West Indies World T20 squad

    T&T pace bowler Ravi Rampaul has been called up to the West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup later this year.

    According to Cricket West Indies, this is Rampaul’s first recall to the team since 2015.

    He was a member of the 2012 winning World Cup squad and, Lead Selector Roger Harper, believes he will boost the current team’s wicket-taking options in the powerplay and middle phase.

    Meanwhile, all-rounder Roston Chase has been called up to T20I squad for the first time.

    FULL SQUAD: Kieron Pollard (Captain), Nicholas Pooran (Vice Captain), Fabian Allen, Dwayne Bravo, Roston Chase, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Obed McCoy, Lendl Simmons, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr.

    TRAVELLING RESERVES: Darren Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein.

    West Indies have been drawn in Group 1 and will play five group games against England, South Africa and Australia along with the winner of Round 1 Group A (Sri Lanka, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Namibia) and the runner-up from Round 1 Group B (Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Oman).

    Their first group game will be against England in Dubai on October 23rd.
