Premier League: Newcastle v Aston Villa postponed due to COVID-19 cases

For the first time this season, a Premier League game has to be postponed due to COVID-19 cases.

Newcastle versus Aston Villa was supposed to take place on Friday but according to BBC Sport, five Newcastle players and two staff members have tested positive for the virus at the club’s training ground, Darsley Park.

Newcastle asked the Premier League to postpone the fixture at Villa Park and this has been approved, with Villa in full support of the move.

Further tests will be done this week and a new date and time for the game will be confirmed in the future.

Newcastle are 13th after 10 games while Villa are 10th after nine matches.
