Nicholas Pooran made a 31-ball 43, continuing his fine T20 form, but his Yorkshire Vikings fell short by 9 runs in their Vitality Blast clash with Lancashire.
Pooran, who has been tipped by his Yorks captain as a superstar in the making, did fine work behind the stumps, grabbing 2 catches as Lancs made 170/6 batting first.
The Vikings were in trouble early in their chase, losing Adam Lyth and skipper Tom Kohler-Cadmore to fall to 16/2 after 1.3 overs.
But David Willey (32) and Harry Brook (30) provided a fightback with a 62-run partnership.
Pooran then came in and hit 3 fours and 3 sixes before his was bowled by Saqib Mahmood in the 18th over – Yorks were 140/6.
In the remaining overs, they lost regular wickets and eventually fell 9 runs shy of their target ending on 161/9.
Yesterday’s game was Pooran’s penultimate appearance of the tournament – his last game will be against Northampton on Sunday.
