Pollard retires as IPL player

T&T cricketer Kieron Pollard will serve as batting coach of the Mumbai Indians, after deciding to retire as a player in the IPL.

Pollard was not one of the players retained by the franchise for the upcoming 2023 season.

He signed in 2010 for Mumbai Indians and has picked up 5 IPL and 2 champions league trophies with the team.

Pollard said he understands the team needs to transition and if he is no longer a player for Mumbai Indians then he cannot see himself playing against them.

Mumbai’s owner Gita Ambani said they will miss seeing his magic on the field, but she is delighted that he will continue to play for MI Emirates, and also mentor young players as the batting coach for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
