West Indies captain Kieron Pollard put on an all-round show as the regional team’s success against Afghanistan continued into the T20i series.
Afganistan’s difficulties did not relent as they were restricted to 134/9 in 20 overs in their chase of 165 at Lucknow.
Pollard took 2/17 while Kesrick Williams led the bowling attack with 3/17 – Hayden Walsh Jr (2/34), Jason Holder (1/29) and Sheldon Cottrell (1/5) were also among the wickets.
Earlier, Evin Lewis smashed 68 from 41 balls in a knock that included 6 sixes while Pollard added a 22-ball 32 in a late lower order push.
Speaking after the win, the skipper noted that it was not an easy wicket to bat on and commended Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer (21 from 21 balls) for setting up a solid total.
He says, “We have another game shortly, so we need to look the areas to improve upon.”
West Indies now have a 1-0 lead in the three-match series with the 2nd game being played on Saturday from 9:30am T&T time.
