Nabi, Rashid furious over Afghanistan captaincy change

Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan have voiced their concerns opposing the captaincy changes of their side.

Both believe the timing was not correct, with the World Cup just around the corner.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board have removed Asghar Afghan as the captain from all three formats.

Following this, they named Rahmat Shah (Test), Gulbadin Naib (ODI) and Rashid (T20I) as the new leaders.

Nabi tweeted in support of the former skipper Afghan, saying the team had “gelled really well” under the veteran.

Rashid meanwhile called the decision “irresponsible and biased”.

But ACB chairman Azizullah Fazli says the change in captaincy ahead of the World Cup was to “introduce change in leadership” in order to compete better against 9 Full Members in the global tournament.
