Chris Gayle contributed 32 not out, Andre Fletcher added 30 and Russell made an unbeaten 23, ending the match with a six over deep midwicket.
Following the match, Pollard credited his bowlers for pulling the game back in the middle overs after South Africa got off to a solid start.
