The Queen’s Park Oval could, this weekend, witness the breaking of Brian Lara’s record for the most ODI runs by a West Indian.

Chris Gayle moved to 10397 after scoring 4 from 31 in today’s abandoned 1st ODI against India.

The innings was his slowest of 25 balls or more.

He now sits behind the Prince of Port of Spain who made 10405 runs in his 299-game career.

Gayle will have another crack at passing the record in the 2nd ODI in Trinidad on Sunday, which if he plays, would be his 300th match.
