Steve Smith’s twin tons and Nathan Lyon’s 6-wicket haul was too much for England as Australia won the opening Ashes Test.

Smith made 142 in the 2nd innings to add to his 1st innings 144 as the visitors set a target of 398.

He became the first player since Matthew Hayden in 2002 to score two centuries in an Ashes Test.

Then came Lyon’s time to shine.

The off spinner took 6/49 as England were rattled out for 146 – Pat Cummins took the other 4 scalps to wrap up a 251-run win.
