Dates for WI tour of England announced pending UK gov’t approval

    The dates for the West Indies tour of England have been announced though it is pending the approval of the UK government.

    According to Cricket West Indies, three Test matches will be played behind closed doors at the Ageas Bowl and Old Trafford as the West Indies look to defend the Wisden Trophy.

    The squad will arrive in the UK on Tuesday June 9th for quarantining and training over three weeks before the games.

    SCHEDULE:
    July 8-12: 1st Test at Ageas Bowl
    July 16-20: 2nd Test at Old Trafford
    July 24-28: 3rd Test at Old Trafford

    Both venues had to demonstrate key principles to create a bio-secure environment including:

    • BIOSECURITY
      Venue perimeter, access and access control
      Hotel accommodation (onsite or nearby)
    • MEDICAL SCREENING/TESTING PROVISION
      Designated areas for isolation of anyone presenting symptoms
      Car parking requirements
      Medical Screening and Testing sites
    • FOOTPRINT TO ENABLE SOCIAL DISTANCING
      Extendable Players and Match Official areas
      Extendable space for broadcast compounds, studios and written media.
    • VENUE/CRICKET OPERATIONS
      The number and suitability of TV pitches
      Provision for warm-up matches
      Indoor and outdoor practice facilities

    West Indies are defending the Wisden Trophy as they won the last Test series against England 2-1 in January and February 2019.
