Cricket: Women’s World Cup qualifiers postponed due to COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament to be postponed.

The event, which West Indies are supposed to be involved in, was to be held in Sri Lanka between July 3rd and 19th 2020.

It is the pathway for teams to qualify for the 2021 World Cup in New Zealand.

The ICC says it will work with all participating members to identify when qualification could be staged.

The West Indies came close to winning the Women’s World Cup in 2013 but lost to Australia in the final.

With six titles, the most successful team at the tournament has been Australia, followed by defending champs England with four and New Zealand with one.
