Trinbago Knight Riders have secured their first win of the 2021 CPL, beating Barbados Royals by six wickets.

Jason Holder and the Royals won the toss and chose to bat, starting slowly but solidly with a 29-run opening stand.

They were at one point 103/4 but then lost their next six wickets for just 19 runs with TKR’s bowling led by Isuru Udana’s 5/21.

Ravi Rampaul was also among the wickets and took two to get to 50 CPL wickets.

Chasing 123, TKR were in some trouble very quickly as Mohammad Amir took three wickets to leave TKR at 18/3 after 4.2 overs.

TKR also lost Tim Seifert and slumped to 38/4 but then came the experienced heads of Kieron Pollard and Denesh Ramdin.

The Trinbagonians stood together for an unbroken 87-run partnership from just 57 balls with Pollard contributing the lion’s share with 58 not out including six sixes and three fours.

They helped TKR to 125/4 in 16.5 overs – victory by six wickets with 19 balls to spare.

In the process, Pollard went past 2,000 CPL runs.
