West Indies have followed up their 2-1 T20I series win over Sri Lanka with a ODI series sweep after winning today’s 3rd ODI by 5 wickets.
Darren Bravo hit his first century in over four years as he made 102 to guide the hosts towards their target of 275 in 50 overs.
“Lil Bravo” struck five 4s and four 6s in his innings before he was removed by Suranga Lakmal with just 26 runs left to chase.
The last time he got into triple figures was in June 2016 when he made the same score against South Africa in Barbados.
Bravo put on a 109-run partnership with Shai Hope who made 64 to record his sixth consecutive 50+ score in ODIs.
Hope’s innings has put him in the company of Sir Vivian Richards, Gordon Greenidge and a few other batsmen who have completed that feat.
Bravo also had an 80-run stand with skipper Kieron Pollard (53 not out) before Pollard and Jason Holder finished the game off with nine balls to spare.
Earlier, Sri Lanka made 274/6 mostly thanks to an opening partnership of 68 and an unbroken seventh wicket stand of 123.
Bravo was named Player of the Match and Shai Hope was named Player of the Series for scores of 110, 84 and 64.
Sri Lanka have picked up just one win in the white ball leg of the tour and will be hoping for better results in the two Tests to follow.
The first Test runs from March 21st to 25th and the second takes place from March 29th to April 2nd.
