New Zealand’s Trent Boult and Kane Williamson have been rested for the West Indies T20Is but will join the squad for next month’s Tests.
The country’s cricket association says the duo will focus on the red-ball format, making way for Devon Conway and Kyle Jamieson.
Conway, a top order batsman, and Kyle Jamieson, a bowler with some batting prowess, are the two new faces in the T20 side captained by Tim Southee.
This is Conway’s first national call up while Jamieson is in line for his first stint in the New Zealand T20 squad, having already played two Tests and two ODIs for the Kiwis.
Conway has proved to be a solid asset in all domestic formats averaging 46.8 in First Class, 44.98 in List A and 39.66 in T20s with a strike rate of 124.84.
NZ T20 SQUAD: Tim Southee (captain), Hamish Bennett, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert (wk), Ross Taylor.
Southee, Jamieson and Taylor will miss the third T20I as they will be travelling hundreds of kilometers away to Hamilton to join the Test team.
Doug Bracewell, Scott Kuggeleijn and Mark Chapman will cover for them in the third T20I.
NZ TEST SQUAD: Kane Williamson (captain), Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Colin De Grandhomme, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling (wk), Will Young.
