Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl in a match reduced to 41 overs per innings due to a wet outfield.
The Windies had a lackluster showing, accumulating only 149/9.
The top-score was 33 from Shamarh Brooks.
Medium pacer Shoriful Islam took an ODI career-best of 4/34, while off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed 3/36.
Mahmudullah then hit an unbeaten 41 and Najmul Hossain Shanto contributed 37 as the visitors reached 151/4 in 31.5 overs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was named Player of the Match.
The 2nd ODI will be played at the same venue on Wednesday.
