Afghanistan now has its first ever Test centurion as they reached 271/5 on Day 1 of their one-off match against Bangladesh.

Rahmat Shah defied the spinners to make 102 from 187 balls in what he described as a dream come true.

He was eventually removed by off-spinner Nayeem Hasan on a day when 92 of the 96 overs bowled were by spinners.

Afghanistan will resume on Day 2 with Asghar Afghan not out on 88 and Afsar Zazai on 35.

Shah had come close to his maiden Test ton last year against Ireland but chopped on off the bowling of Tim Murtagh for 98.
