An Australia collapse around Steven Smith’s 131 has seen India fight back in the third Test between the teams at the SCG.
On day two, Smith picked up where Marnus Labuschagne (91) and Will Pucovski (62) left off and hit his 27th Test hundred.
However, all around him wickets were falling courtesy of a fine spell by Ravi Jadeja who ended with 4/62 to help reduce Australia from 232/3 to 338 all out.
Debutant Navdeep Saini took 2/65, Jasprit Bumrah grabbed 2/66 and Mohammed Siraj took 1/67.
India’s batsmen faced 45 overs before the end of day two with Rohit Sharma making 26 on his Test return before being caught and bowled by Josh Hazlewood and Shubman Gill made an even 50 before he was caught by Cameron Green to give Pat Cummins a wicket.
They ended on 96/2, trailing by 242 runs.
