The Pointe-a-Pierre Wild Fowl Trust has received a donation of almost a half a million dollars from Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Ltd.
Its Deputy Chairman Reynold Ajodhasingh made the gesture on July 26th.
According to the Newsday, the board decided to donate the funds to the trust in lieu of its previous annual subvention from Petrotrin.
The Wild Fowl Trust has been a major beneficiary since 2012.
However following the end of Petrotrin’s operations last year, the TPHL board has been seeking to reduce the trust’s dependence on the company and develop a sustainable future for the organisation.
This included consultations with private entities about providing future financial support.
