The latest update from the National Hurricane Centre puts Potential Tropical Cyclone Two about 530km east of T&T.
In its 8am advisory, the NHC says the system is packing maximum sustained winds of 65km/h and is moving towards the island at 37km/h.
There are no changes with the advisory other than the system’s position.
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for T&T and Grenada and its dependencies with around four to six inches of rainfall expected in this country.
The system is forecast to produce this heavy rainfall starting tonight into Wednesday.
The Met Service has since issued Tropical Storm Warning #6 – Orange Level which says, “Gusty winds in excess of 70km/h can be expected. These wind gusts are capable of breaking tree branches, displacing unsecured roofs and loose outdoor objects, and can even topple over unhealthy trees. The risk of landslides/landslips is likely in areas so prone and sea conditions can become occasionally rough.”
