WASA is calling on its customers who are in arrears to pay their outstanding bills.
In a media release, it says although it has the legal authority under the Water and Sewerage Act to disconnect or sell property to recover payments, it has been measured in applying such actions.
However, it claims 45% of customers are now in arrears this has accelerated its debt burden and affects its capacity to service those whose rates are paid.
WASA is now urging persons to pay arrears via the website customerportal.wasa.gov.tt or via WASA’s Service App, commercial banks, SurePay, Western Union or its customer service centres.
It says persons who are unable to immediately clear their arrears can contact it via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, via webchat at wasa.gov.tt or WhatsApp messages at 709-7793 to discuss payment options.
