UWI to unveil electric vehicle charging station for “campus community”

The first level II electric vehicle charging station in T&T to be successfully installed and inspected will be launched at UWI St Augustine tomorrow.

According to the university, the 230 volt station will be open for use by The UWI St. Augustine Campus community only.

It will be located near South Gate.

This project is the brainchild of the Faculty of Engineering, Massy Motors, BELEC Power & Energy Solutions Limited, Government Electrical Inspectorate and the Electric Vehicle Company of T&T.

Its introduction to the campus is a part of a wider plan to install more charging stations powered by renewable energy sources.

These sources include a combination of solar panels and wind turbines.
