The University of the West Indies has moved up 94 places in the Times Higher Education ranking.
According to a media release, the 2022 ranking involves 1,668 universities from 99 countries – up from the 1,500 institutions in 93 countries involved last year.
These 1,668 universities are ranked under five pillars: teaching and learning; research; scholarly and professional citations; industry income; and international outlook and participation.
The UWI now stands in the top 1.5%, up from 3% in the prior year.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles says the university has reached the top global tier, which is where it set out to position itself.
