UPDATE: Two hours after sending a media advisory stating that there will no cancellation of classes at UWI’s St Augustine campus, officials at the university have changed their minds.

All classes scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled due to the riverine flood alert issued by the Met Office.

However, staff in the following departments are expected to report for duty:

    • OSHE Unit
    • Estate Police
    • Division of Faculties Management

INITIAL REPORT: UWI’s St Augustine campus will be open as normal tomorrow and all scheduled classes will take place.

In a media release, the university says this includes classes on the Main Campus as well as off-campus sites (inclusive of Department of Creative and Festival Arts in St Augustine, Faculty of Medical Sciences in St Augustine and Mt Hope and the School of Nursing in El Dorado).

It says UWI is continuously monitoring the weather conditions.

Affected staff and students are being encouraged to contact their faculty and department offices for more updates.
