UTT and CARIRI to collaborate on tyre recycling plant

    UTT and CARIRI have signed an MOU to collaborate on a plant dedicated to recycling old tyres.

    According to a release from the university, the plant is currently being built at UTT in San Fernando and will run for the next two years, in the first instance.

    It notes that T&T accumulates over 1.5 million waste tyres annually.

    This project aims to utilise research which facilitates the creation products which supply the downstream rubber-based industry.

    UTT and CARIRI will pool resources related to manpower and research capabilities.
