US $200k to help nationals stranded abroad

The Finance Ministry has been authorized to send 200,000 US dollars to several T&T embassies to help nationals stranded abroad.

However, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley stressed that this money is being given to those in dire circumstances as they await repatriation.

Dozens of T&T nationals remain stranded abroad, awaiting clearance to return home, where they must go into state quarantine upon arrival.

Dr Rowley says the repatriation process has worked well so far, and announced the addition of Paria Suites as a new quarantine facility.

According to the PM, a contingent of approximately 100 persons is due to arrive by the Saturday.
