Unilever Caribbean Limited will begin a retrenchment exercise as a result of a restructuring of its operations in Trinidad & Tobago.
The decision comes even after a number of improvement initiatives were undertaken in all areas of the operation over the past two years.
Unilever says it has consulted with the OWTU as the recognized majority union for its workers, in an effort to reaching a mutually agreeable outcome.
The company though, has not stated how many employees will be retrenched.
Unilever says it now plans to sharpen the focus of its core business to ensure long-term sustainability of its operations in T&T and the region.
