UNC Leader promises to open Camden Airstrip if re-elected into office

UNC Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is promising to open the Camden Airstrip in Couva if the party is re-elected into office in the next General Election.

Speaking at a political meeting in Tunapuna last night, she believes this Airport can assist in easing the number of domestic flights from Piarco.

Additionally, Mrs Persad-Bissessar says the party has another plan which will work in tandem with the UTT’s Aviation Campus in Camden – an Aircraft maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) hub at Piarco.

The UNC Leader says students and graduates of aviation training programs from the Campus at Camden would be given work at the aircraft MRO hub.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar is also promising to open a SolarTech Renewable Energy Park in Tamana in which investors would also be required to fully finance their own solar projects.

The Opposition Leader also talked about establishing a biotechnology manufacturing zone along the East-West Corridor which will attract entrepreneurs and firms to create a cluster of industrial applications in agro, health and wellness and industrial, and environmental biotechnology.
