UNC: EBC wants more police to enforce social distancing on Election Day

An increased level of police officers has been requested by the Election and Boundaries Commission for polling day, according to the UNC.

The party today met with the EBC for a second time in just under a month to discuss issues in the lead up to the August 10th General Election.

According to a media release, it was informed of a request by the EBC for more police to enforce COVID-19 social distancing rules.

The UNC says the EBC also intends to review polling stations to ensure they are large enough to accommodate voters and staff while following social distancing guidelines.

Today’s meeting also focused on the adjusted procedures in light of COVID-19, the treatment of quarantined citizens as special voters and new guidelines of wearing a mask and sanitizing before voting.
