Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Monday night declared victory in three of the five districts being contested in the Local Government bye-elections.
One of them she claims is the Arima Central seat, which was previously held by the PNM’s Lisa-Morris Julian before she was elected to the House of Representatives and had to vacate the seat.
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar also declared wins in the Cunupia and Hindustan/St. Mary’s seats, which the UNC previously held before their representatives also were elected in the general elections.
The other two seats were Hollywood in Pt. Fortin and Morne Coco/Alyce Glen in Diego Martin, which were held previously by the PNM.
