The Sangre Grande Regional Corporation’s new Chairman is Vega de Oropouche councillor Anil Juteram.
Mr Juteram was sworn in today, while his fellow UNC councillor Kenwyn Phillip was appointed vice-chairman.
The UNC took control of the Sangre Grande Corporation after winning 5 out of the 8 electoral districts in the recent Local Government Elections.
According to Newsday, outgoing Chairman Terry Rondon has since passed on some advice for the job.
He reportedly urged the newly sworn-in councillors and aldermen not to be tempted by bribes while in office.
He also told the council to always listen to the people, and to never turn anyone away.
