Two men arrested over sexual assaults on teenage girls

Two men are in police custody after separate allegations of sexual assault on teenage girls.

In the first incident yesterday, the parents of a 13-year-old of Laventille reported that a 63-year-old man known to the family sexually assaulted her.

When officers detained the suspect, he was found to be bleeding – he was taken to hospital while the girl and her parents were taken to the Belmont Police Station for more inquiries.

In the other incident yesterday, officers responded to a report of a suspect being detained by residents of Chase Village.

When they arrived, they found a 27-year-old Jamaican suffering from injuries and were told he was caught having intercourse with a 14-year-old girl.

Both the alleged suspect and victim were taken to hospital where the man continues to be treated under police guard.
