With a rise in COVID-19 hospitalizations being recorded in T&T, two step-down facilities will be reactivated.
This announcement was made this morning by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh at the weekly COVID-19 briefing.
He said he convened a meeting with the Chief Medical Officer and Principal Medical Officer on Sunday to express his concerns.
The decision was taken to bring the Point Fortin Area Hospital and UTT in Valsayn back into the parallel healthcare system.
CMO Dr Roshan Parasram, also speaking at this morning’s briefing said there has been a slow but steady rise in hospital numbers for the past two weeks.
As of this 8am today, there are 184 hospitalized patients.
