Two arrested over Works Ministry iron theft

    Two persons have been arrested and materials recovered after a report that iron was stolen from the Works Ministry.

    An employee told police that he last saw nine iron beams, 60 electrical steel pipes, two excavator buckets, one 18-inch one-way valve pipe and six pieces of overhanging beams on the secured Ministry compound in Caroni on Friday 29th July, 2022.

    However, when he returned on August 2nd, 2022, the items were allegedly missing.

    After investigations, officers went to a scrap iron business in Cunupia, found the stolen items and arrested the 33-year-old business owner and a 36-year-old Sangre Grande man.
