Teachers march because sometimes it is the only way to raise an issue and put public pressure on authorities to address grievances.
This explanation comes from newly installed TTUTA President Antonia Tekah-De Freitas, in the wake of a union-led march this week, the second in the space of one month.
Speaking on 103FM’s programme “Sargam” she reminded that teachers are not allowed by law to protest.
As such, she says they often use their own leave, in a bid to raise issues.
Mrs Tekah-De Freitas also believes proper education resources should be a priority for the Government, since it is crucial for the future.
