The TTPS has confirmed that a man wanted for several offences, including murder, has been killed in a police-involved incident in Maraval.
According to a media release, 46-year-old Ralphie Roper was found by officers during an intelligence-led exercise in a forest area along Cameron Road yesterday.
Around 6:55am, the suspect was spotted and on seeing the officers, he reported fired a gun at him twice, prompting police to return fire.
Roper was shot in the chest and died at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
He had 28 outstanding warrants for various offences and 12 matters pending before various courts.
A search of a nearby makeshift tent revealed ammunition, a cellphone, a bulletproof vest, an army-type jacket, two camouflage trousers and a quantity of marijuana.
