TTPS: no offences committed in video involving boy

The TTPS says no offences have been committed with respect to a video insinuating the abuse of a boy who lives at a Children’s Home in East Trinidad.

The video appears to have surfaced on social media on Sunday, following which officers of the Child Protection Unit visited the home and interviewed both the administrators and the boy in question.

In the video, a child is seen picking up garbage in the rain under the watchful eye of a woman who was at the time being recorded by others.

The TTPS says based on eyewitness reports and testimonials from other residents of the home, investigators found that the child had been displaying unbecoming behaviour for quite some time.

It says the latest incident was a result of the child throwing a bag of rubbish over a wall, which tore upon landing on the ground.

The CPU, upon completing its investigation, assured that no offences were committed and that the child, who has been at the institution for several years, will undergo further interventions to treat with underlying issues.

The CPU meanwhile is urging persons not to videotape minors and post it online.
