If you are purchasing a vehicle from someone, ensure that the seller is the registered owner.
The TTPS Fraud Squad says there is a growing trend for motorists to purchase a vehicle from the purported owner, who does not have their name on the certified copy.
Superintendent Curt Simon says in many instances after the transaction has taken place, persons are unable to transfer the vehicle on their name.
He says these buyers are in some cases falsely assured that the original owners can be found to transfer the vehicle.
The Superintendent is urging motorists to ensure this is a solid transaction.
