TTPS investigating damage to TSTT cables


    The TTPS is investigating an act of vandalism that saw a disruption in TSTT services in parts of South Trinidad.

    Around 12.23am on Sunday, TSTT received a cable alarm from its Network Operations Centre at No 1 Edward Street.

    The alarm highlighted a disruption to the cable installation from the TSTT Thompson Exchange, which affected the distribution of telecommunications and internet services in Southern and South Western parts of Trinidad.

    TSTT technicians subsequently confirmed that Fibre-Optic and Copper cables were damaged at the Eastern side of the Cross Crossing Bridge.

    According to the company, the malicious act resulted in at least one million dollars in damages and inconvenienced thousands of people and businesses.

    Acting Police Commissioner Mc Donald Jacob visited the scene yesterday, along with Officers from the San Fernando Criminal Investigation Department and Crime Scene Investigators.
