The Police Service has dismissed what it says is a “fake” voice note circulating via WhatsApp.
The message claimed that access to Port of Spain had been cut off and that Police Stations, namely the Besson Street Police Station, were under attack.
It has been circulating since yesterday.
The TTPS says all checks were made via the Operational Command Centre using CCTV footage and the areas mentioned were found to be incident-free.
It adds that should there be an incident, an alert by the TTPS or the Ministry of National Security would be issued informing the public.
Additionally, it reminds that information of this nature can lead to undue panic in the community and throughout the wider population.
