The RIC has been questioned about its decision to undertake the T&TEC rate review, even with new CSO data on household budgets expected next year.

At last evening’s public consultation in Diego Martin, RIC Executive Director Glenn Khan noted that 2009/2010 data was used by the body during the rate review process.

However, he said this 13-year-old data was not used to set the newly proposed rates.

In response, Deborah Maillard, a volunteer with the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Advocacy Network, questioned the RIC about the CSO’s ongoing Household Budget Survey and Survey of Living Conditions.

Ms Maillard reminded the RIC that the CSO’s surveys are expected to end in January 2024.
