Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for parts of the Leeward Islands, as Tropical Storm Jerry draws nearer.
The system currently poses no direct threat to Trinidad and Tobago.
However Watches have been issued for St. Maarten, St. Martin and St. Barthelemy.
On the current forecast track, the center of Jerry will be near or north of the northern Leeward Islands on Friday and pass north of Puerto Rico on Saturday.
By that time, it could be a hurricane.
The National Hurricane Centre says Jerry is carrying maximum sustained winds near 95 km/h, and is forecast to become a hurricane on Thursday, with little change in strength anticipated on Friday or Saturday.
