Tropical Storm Gonzalo has formed in the Atlantic.
According to the National Hurricane Centre, maximum sustained winds have increased to near 85 km/h.
Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Gonzalo is expected to become a hurricane by Thursday.
The T&T MET Service meanwhile says on its current track, Gonzalo is forecast to reach the region by Saturday morning, and is expected to move just north of Trinidad and Tobago.
No coastal watches or warnings have been issued yet for any Caribbean country, however the NHC says interests in the Windward Islands should monitor the system’s progress.
