Trinidad hit by floods after inclement weather


    Several communities in Trinidad are battling flash floods after inclement weather earlier in the day.

    Reports indicated that the flooding is widespread with Diego Martin among the worst affected.

    Corporation Vice Chairman, Catherine Mendez confirmed to 103.1FM that the area’s river burst its banks, flooding several roads, including Sierra Leone Road.

    Other areas hit by flash floods include: Arouca, Cumuto, Couva, Point-a-Pierre, and Claxton Bay.

    We also spoke with Chairman of the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation, Paul Leacock, who noted that there were minor reports in Greenvale, La Horquetta, Kelly Village and Caroni.

    He says they are monitoring rising water levels and have units ready to mobilize.
